I'm finding that the majority of my major Greasemonkey scripts can benefit from some form of user-submitted information. An example of this is
dActive. The script tells my server whether you are in a room or not, and the server then reports that information to whomever is requesting it. Unfortunately, I have no way of telling if you really are who you say you are. Why, if I had a mind to, I could potentially make my script think I was $
spyed or
lolly!
As you can imagine, this is a bit of a pickle. This is only one example, and a small one at that. My custom emotes script, deviantPLUS, and potentially many more future scripting projects could greatly benefit from a secure, simple, and reliable method of confirming a user's identity.
Fortunately, such methods do exist. Unfortunately, they are not currently available on dA.
I have suggested a system that would allow this, with very little commitment or effort on dA's part. If you're sick of the "user already registered" errors in dActive, or would like to see deviantPLUS or the custom emotes script evolve into their full potential, please go and support this suggestion.
Together we deviants can contribute to the development of deviantART, as users and as programmers. This system would be an important step in that direction, and I would dearly love to see it implemented

I do like the idea of making and sharing new buttons for deviantPLUS though.
