Give us a little credit. I've been around the block a few times (hell, I could argue I've built my fair share of 'em), so I think I'm capable of determining whether or not that link I'm about to click is really something I want to click. If the link looks trustworthy, I'll click the Continue button 100% of the time because I made up my mind before I clicked the link in the first place. If the link doesn't look trustworthy, I wouldn't have clicked the link in the first place. And if it's a tinyurl link, the final destination is obscured and the gateway does no good whatsoever.
Let me turn it off.
And if this is just a temporary measure while you brick up the hole in your XSS security, fine, but a little warning next time, eh?

Unix gives you just enough rope to hang yourself...and then a couple of more feet, just to be sure!
the sir in your messages doesn't do you justice. I propose:
His holy awesome.
As for the gateway, you have to remember that FAR too many people on this site are, to put it bluntly, thick as a couple of bricks. that, or too young. The reason the whole link spam thing got of the ground was because people blindly clicked the links without looking at them. they then blindly typed in there dA username and password on the site the random links took them too.
People are stupid. and for the rest of us, there is zikes

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things.
cause I BET you didn't code that in
